Dr Angela Schlenkhoff-Hus is the Development Manager and Deputy Head of Employee Volunteering at Volunteering Matters. She oversees the impact measurement and reporting of a large portfolio of employee volunteering programmes and provides impact measurement and research methods training for staff across Volunteering Matters. She also co-manages the programme Measuring the Good in partnership with Coalition for Efficiency. The programme matches skilled volunteers to charities and social enterprises to help them improve their impact measurement and reporting.
Antonia Orr is the head of Coalition for Efficiency. At present, she is focusing on scaling up the programme Measuring the Good, that in cooperation with Volunteering Matters offers effective and affordable support to organizations in measuring their societal impact. Previously, Antonia worked as a General Manager of ETC Charity, where she developed methodology to measure societal impact in the field of community transport. In 2013, she helped launch and develop the UnLtd’s Global Social Entrepreneurship Network, an international network of organizations supporting social entrepreneurs. Antonia was also named in the WISE100 (Women in Social Enterprise 100) index to recognise women leaders working in social enterprise, impact investment and social innovation.
Jaromír is a researcher and teacher at the Department of sociology at Charles University. He has cooperated on data project with IBM and The Czech Television and he has been involved in research projects supported by Czech Science Foundation. He enjoys teaching people to think conceptually about information and to gain knowledge from the available data. He also studies methods and data analysis at courses abroad and he has absolved internships at the University of Oxford and the University of Oslo.
Karel Vrána studied demography and sociology at the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Arts at Charles University. A former journalist and PR consultant, he is now concentrating on the world of research (marketing, media, public opinion or developmental programmes impact) and has gained experience in private and nonprofit sectors. He acted as an advisor to People in Need for monitoring and evaluating their projects in Ethiopia and currently, he is pursuing research consulting and data analysis.
Lukáš is an absolvent of Romani studies at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague. He is coordinating a governmental campaign named HateFree Culture, an initiative that, in addition to combating hate speech, promotes inspirational examples of good practices. He also creates artworks, which most often deal with the topics of identity, violence, hatred or injustice.
Together with Ashoka, Markus has founded the Financing Agency for Social Entrepreneurship (FASE) in Germany. FASE helps leading social enterprises across Europe in raising hybrid growth capital so that they can scale their social impact. So far, FASE has built an open pipeline of investment-ready social enterprises and closed more than 30 transactions leveraging more than EUR 14 million impact investments. FASE is operating in Germany, Austria and Benelux. Markus is an accepted thought leader for social finance across Europe, member of the Expert Group of the European Commission on Social Entrepreneurship (GECES) and a European Young Leader. Prior to this, Markus worked for more than 7 years as consultant for McKinsey & Company. Markus studied Business Administration and Economics at the Universities of Witten/Herdecke and Cambridge and received his Ph.D. from the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management.
Michal has been working for Otakar Motejl Fund since 2015 after his previous engagement in Open Society. As a studied sociologist, he has been dealing with data throughout his whole career. He created and launched the website www.mapakriminality.cz five years ago, and, it is the best public source of criminality data in the Czech Republic to date. Thanks to this experience, Michal discovered the world of open data and the immense possibilities they offer not only to the public sector, but also to the civic society and the creative business industry. Together with Otakar Motejl Fund, he helped pass a Czech open data legislation and he is now making sure that there are as many open data as possible and in the best quality available. He is also connecting data issuers with their users.
Mirka has been engaged with the nonprofit sector since 2002. She began with citizen participation projects and election observation, and after that, she devoted herself to the development of business philanthropy, volunteering and the promotion of nonprofit ideas.She is currently working as a presenter at informal conferences (namely Cesty k Dobrej skole, Jump Slovensko, TEDx Trencin), writing articles on diverse topics and helping others present their ideas with a soul. As a coach, she has worked with organizations such as Voices, Zivica and Nadacia Pontis. For Ashoka, she has coached social innovators from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and abroad.
Olga is a member of Impact Academy’s strategic advisory body. Before that, she was Ashoka’s coordinator and she was responsible for the selection of social innovators and supporting the changemakers ecosystem in the Czech Republic. She has over 10 years of experience from the civic society and for several years, she has been engrossed in the topics of social impact and systemic change.
While Ondřej Liška has over two decades of experience in different specialist positions, he has done everything with one goal in mind: as a member of government, NGO advisor, expert analyst or civic activities initiator, he has always strived for the development of open society, inclusion, and sustainable attitude towards our planet. He has been cooperating on these topics with nongovernmental organizations, think-tanks, public sector institutions, businesses and investors. Currently, he is one of the executives in an international philanthropic organization and he is a member of Impact Academy’s strategic advisory body.
Pavla graduated from pedagogic faculty and she remained in the field for about 4 years. Afterwards, she studied social anthropology in Mexico. At present, she is a member of the Anthropictures, z.s. studio and furthermore, she is focusing on applied research and evaluations in education and communally led development (e.g. in the project Mista Zblizka). At the same time, she is the head of evaluation of the Impact Academy project.
Pavlína Hořejšová is the director of Ashoka Czech Republic and Slovakia, a president of Institute of active citizenship and a member of Impact Academy’s strategic advisory body. She is a co-author of the initiative Neziskovky a byznys na jedné lodi, consultant, lecturer and joint owner of Rekola, a social enterpreneurial bikesharing. Pavlina has worked in the nonprofit sector, built up a business and led several political campaigns. She believes that effective societal change can be achieved only when politicians, businessmen and civic activists all take part in its making.
Petr has been working for People in Need since 2006, where he has been developing systemic solutions in order to increase the impact of humanitarian and development projects. Last year, he led preparation of the website www.indikit.net, which makes it easier and more precise to measure the outcomes of financial aid. Petr obtained his Master degree in humanitarian and international development from Oxford Brookes University and his Bachelor in social and humanitarian work from Caritas-VOS in Olomouc. During his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors, good wine and exploring the world on his motorbike.
Silke Horákováis a co-owner of the Albatros media publishing group. She actively supports social businesses in the Czech Republic, acts as a mentor for selected social projects, is a member of an international network of Ashoka supporters and closely collaborates with The Via Foundation and Social Impact Award. She chairs the Albatros Foundation board and is a member of Impact Academy’s strategic advisory body.
Svetlana Margetová is currently working as a data analyst and app developer in Nanooq IT. She programs in Python and enjoys machine learning, data processing and adding new findings to the development of the company and its products. She is also cooperating on data analysis with Czechitas, where she acts as a mentor and IT and data processing teacher in the Digital academy. Moreover, she is interested in nonprofit projects in various fields, such as eHealth, where she among other things helped with product development.
Thad Douglas is the Impact and Evaluation Manager at Volunteering Matters. Having completed more than 10 years in the field of impact measurement and evaluation, he has gained significant exposure working within the voluntary sector both directly to safeguard individuals, and at a policy level. Before joining Volunteering Matters in July 2015, Thad worked at a number of charities and social enterprises in the UK, and has developed impact measurement frameworks for a range of social interventions working to address specific needs. His main areas of research, evaluation and intervention include bullying and peer victimisation, volunteering and social action, and the use of digital media and new technology.
Vojtěch is a sociologist and the Research Director in Behavio. He previously worked at Czech Academy of Sciences, Schola Empirica and Respekt Institute. He says about his work: ‘We apply behavioral sciences to our researches in Behavio, where we test customer decision-making, campaigns and brands. And we are making sure that people enjoy the research process.’
Aleš is a senior consultant for public sector innovations at the consulting department of Deloitte Advisory. He is focusing on the area of EU structural funds and during his career, he has advised on a number of social innovation projects. For instance, he cooperated on expanding the ESF information system to meet evaluation needs, on the introduction of the SROI methodology to measure impact, or on the proposal of social impact bonds as an innovative way to finance social policy in the Czech Republic. In addition to advising and consulting, Ales participates in the process of creating financial and project management courses, which he also lectures. Furthermore, he is a holder of the PRINCE2® Foundation certificate.
Bára vystudovala psychologii, absolvovala systematické výcviky v Gestalt přístupu, krizové intervenci a komunikaci. Dvanáct let pracovala jako krizový intervent, manažer týmu, manažer vzdělávání, lektor a mentor. Od roku 2013 se zaměřuje na HR poradenství, zejména v oblasti zavádění a sledování změn, inovací a komplexních rozvojových programů. Baví ji facilitace týmových workshopů a řešitelských skupin, věnuje se supervizi týmů ve firemním i neziskovém sektoru (např. Hestia, SPMP) a vlastní terapeutické praxi. Mentorskou praxi staví na spojování zkušeností z nezisku a businessu, drzých otázkách a hledání odpovědí na ně.
Inka Bartošová Píbilová
For the last 8 years, Inka has been dedicated to evaluating educational, public awareness, social and international development projects and programmes. She cooperates with organizations such as Clovek v Tisni, Czech Ministry of foreign affairs or UNDP. She endorses participative approaches to evaluation, namely the Most Significant Change, and those evaluations that truly make an impact, e.g. Rapid Rehousing Brno. She bases her facilitation practice on the philosophy Art of Hosting – using methods such as Open Space, Appreciative Inquiry, World Cafe or ProAction Cafe. Using them, she strives to create space where diversely sized groups can themselves organize and innovate solutions of complex issues that matter to them. When assisting with the development of organizations, e.g. CARE ČR or Amnesty International, she builds on the biggest successes that the organization has achieved, and helps it create a long-term vision, which then guides the strategic planning process. Previously, Inka worked for NGOs in India and for the Mars global corporation.
Iva worked in managerial positions in the fields of trade and client service in the CSOB financial group for the last 15 years. During this time, she actively participated in CSR activities, increasing financial literacy, workshop organization, expert consulting, mentoring and coaching NGOs. She is currently working as a project manager in M.C TRITON, where she works on projects dealing with process optimalisation and innovation implementation. She is focusing on the impacts these projects have on company culture, leadership and communication. She is also interested in the issue of Age Management. Furthermore, she is pursuing the topics of managerial development, developing personal potential and coaching. She discovered ‘business’ coaching through sports coaching, which she took up after ending her top-level sports career.
Ivana obtained a diploma in andragogy and psychology and she has been active in the domain of student and adult education since 2000. For the last 7 years, she has been working in international corporations in HR management and development. Ivana has taken part in many projects revolving around changing company culture and values, innovation of customer service or efficient leadership and organizations. She enjoys the most working with team dynamics and its changes, where she uses psychological tools such as testing or team coaching. This year, she began cooperating with Nadace Vodafone as a mentor in the project Laboratory NF. Ivana is a certified psychological coach, trainer and consultant.
Jan Mrkvička is the director of the Humanitarian Aid and Development department in People in Need. His department currently realises projects in twenty different countries, their value exceeding 1,5 billion CZK a year and employing around a thousand people. He worked on missions abroad in Afghanistan and Eastern Sri Lanka. For 11 years, he has in his managerial role pursued, among other things, the issues of increasing programme quality and their impact measurement.
Marek is an economist and sociologist. He studied at Charles University, Central European University, Warwick Business School, John Hopkins University and Georgetown University. He worked for international companies, think-tanks, and the European Commission, where he pursued, besides other things, ex-ante and ex-post impact assessment, social innovations and evidence-based policy making. He is currently promoting practical uses of behavioural economy and evidence-based approaches (e.g. in the disciplines of better education, reducing corruption, addiction prevention or amelioration of scientific cooperation), working on a start-up that connects behavioural sciences and data analysis (neopas.com) and advising GoodAI on strategic matters. Since 2014, he has been a member of the working committee of Legislative council of the Czech government on regulation impact evaluation (the RIA Committee).
Markéta works at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. She seeks to contribute to a more efficient functioning of public administration and public services and to support evidence-based decision making. She likes to help initiatives that know the true causes of problems, are looking for solutions, focus on results and do not worry about tracking and measuring impact and ideally are ambitious for system change. Marketa also has experiences from the state administration, including the European Commission and the EU affairs audit.
Since 2013, Petr has been the head of Department of Management and Supervision at the Faculty of Humanities at Charles University, where he teaches facilitation and systemic, strategic and project management. His research is mainly focused on the area of NGO management, but he also cooperates on other projects. In the Department, he is the coordinator of international projects, he directs managerial internships and leads a project dealing with the profesionalisation of patient organizations. In 2017, he edited and co-authored a book named Krabička Poslední Záchrany pro NNO (Last Aid Kit for NGOs). Since 2000, he has been lecturing, evaluating, consulting and advising on national and international levels. He created methodology of the competition Neziskovka roku (NGO of the year) for Civil Society Development Foundation. Since 2006, he has been a member – since 2010 a chairman of the board – of Nova skola o.p.s., an organization whose aim is to increase inclusion in Czech educational system. Petr is married and he has two children.
Barbora Komberec Novosadová
“By monitoring the impact, we can show what might otherwise stay hidden – a positive change, however small or large, in our society. In Impact Academy we want to prove that monitoring the impact of work by non-profit organizations and social enterprises is not mission impossible.”
Bára studied Marketing Communication and PR (FSV UK) and Electronic Culture and Semiotics (FHS UK). After her experience in public relations (Ogilvy PR, Focus Agency), she has begun to work fully in the nonprofit sector, which has always been close to her. In HESTIA-The Center for Volunteering, she has been running corporate volunteer programs, accompanying the company at the beginning and during the development of volunteer programs, and facilitating the activities of expert volunteering. As the manager of restart of the Dobrovolník.cz portal, she was most interested in creating links and collaboration among people who implement projects with a positive social impact. The subject of assessing impact has fascinated her for several years, and after working with the UK organisation Volunteering Matters, she worked, with Ashoka Czech Republic’s support, on the preparing of activities to develop practice of assessing impact in our country and on the concept of Impact Academy: Show The Change.

Hana was a director of One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival for many years. She graduated from the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University in Brno with a degree in English and American studies and studied also at Film and Television Department at Ruhr-Universitat-Bochum in Germany. She has worked for other film festivals as a programmer, for Czech television, has taught history of American avant-garde film as well as gender and queer theory and is active in LGBT advocacy. She is a co-editor of a textbook Setting Up a Human Rights Film Festival, vol. 2 (2015) and was nominated among TOP 25 Czech women of public sphere.

At Impact Academy, she works on production and communication to the non-profit public.

Linda is an Anthropologist and Historian. She studied at Charles University, Bologna University, Waseda University, University of Catania. She gained experience in interdisciplinary applied research and projects focused on regional development. Since 2016, she is a member in studio of anthropic research Anthropopistures z.s. At present, she supports the practical use of concepts of community coordination and interdisciplinary approach in the development of peripheral regions of the Czech Republic.
